Easy Lace Knitting
Lace knitting is extremely popular at the moment and is used in shawls, garments, socks and accessories. This workshop will teach you how to read charts, work the stitches and decreases required for lace knitting, add beads using a crochet hook and how to work shaping within a lace pattern. We'll practice working working several swatches from various lace charts. Following this workshop you should be able to work simple lace patterns used in garments, shawls or accessories.
Suitable for adventurous beginners & intermediate knitters.
Advanced Lace Knitting
Knitted lace shawls and garments are very popular and this workshops will teach you the techniques you need to know to knit a complicated lace shawl with edging and lace garments. You will learn how to read more difficult charts, work the various stitches and decreases needed for lace knitting add beads to your lace using the crochet hook method work an applied border, provisional cast on and suitable cast/bind offs.
Following this workshop you should be confident to tackle a more complicated lace shawl with an applied (knitted on) border.
Suitable for intermediate and advanced knitters who are familiar with easy lace patterns.
Basic Sock Knitting
Socks are incredibly popular and there is something magic about turning your first heel. Discover how knit a sock from the top down, knitting in the round on double pointed needles, how to knit a heel flap, turn the heel and work the toe. We'll be knitting a mini-sock in this workshop to practice all the techniques involved in making a sock. You will be given an adult size sock pattern to take home.
Warning - socks are very addictive.
Suitable for adventurous beginners and intermediate knitters.
Toe Up Socks on circular needles
Working socks from the toe up is fun and it's easier to make sure you use all your available yarn without wasting any. This workshop will teach you how to work a closed cast on, knit the toe, increase for the gusset, turn the heel and work the heel flap, and how to do a stretchy cast off. In addition you'll learn how to knit socks on circular needles using magic loop method or two circular needles. You can also practice knitting two socks at a time.
Two socks at a time on circular needles (toe up or top down) & Toe up socks can also be taught as two separate workshops.
Suitable for adventurous beginners and intermediate knitters who have knitted at least one pair of basic socks.
Continental Knitting
The continental way of knitting is faster and more efficient than most English styles. You will learn how to carry your yarn in your left hand and knit and purl continental style, as well as continental long-tail cast on and Norwegian purl.
Suitable for all knitters, apart from complete beginners.
Professional Finishing Techniques
After spending hours, weeks or months knitting a beautiful garment poor finishing can ruin all your hard work. Learn how to sew in ends neatly, block and press pieces correctly, sew up garments using mattress stitch, shaping to make sewing up easier, picking up stitches for neck bands and button bands, short row shaping and three needle bind off for shoulders and how to set in sleeves.
Suitable for all knitters.
Fun & Fabulous Cables
Cables are fun to knit and look elegant. You'll learn how to knit simple and more advanced cables, work cables with and without cable needle, how to interpret cable abbreviations and charts and how to work garment shaping within a cable pattern. After this workshop you'll be confident enough to tackle cable patterns in garments and accessories.

Chart Perfect
Learn how to knit from all kinds of charts. You will learn all the chart basics and practice knitting from a variety of charts including lace, cables, knit and purl combinations and colourwork. You will also learn how to create your own chart from written instructions. Knitting from charts is much easier than from written instructions once you know the basics and will revolutionise and speed up your knitting.
Suitable for all knitters.
Design your own socks
Love knitting socks and want to learn how to design socks? We'll be looking at basic sock construction, how to get the perfect size, using stitch patterns (knit/purl combos, lace, cables, colour work), toe up v top down and how to write up your pattern.
Perfect if you would like to take the next step in sock knitting and knit your own designs.
Suitable for all knitters who have knitted a few pairs of socks.
Designs a lace shawl
Love knitting lace and would like to try designing your own? Learn how lace stitches work, the basics of charts and how to draw up your own charts, basic shaping techniques, basic shawl shapes and how to write up your own pattern. After this workshop you will be confident enough to design simple lace shawls and write up your pattern.
All materials will be provided including yarn and needles.
All subjects can be customised for shorter or longer sessions.
