Easy Lace Knitting - The Wool Merchant, Dartington, Devon
Lace knitting is very popular at the moment and is used in garments, shawls and accessories. Smaller lace accessories are especially popular and is a great way to use up smaller amounts of luxury yarns.
During this workshop you will learn how to read charts, work the stitches and decreases required for lace knitting, add beads using a crochet hook, how to knit a top down triangular shape with a centre spine and how to work shaping (ie armhole etc) within a lace pattern.
In the morning we'll practice various lace stitches wroking from a lace chart and in the afternoon you will be able to start working on a small shawl. You will be given a choice of patterns. All patterns will require 400m/100gr sock yarn and 4mm circular needles (80cm).
Following this workshop you should be able to work simple lace patterns used in garments, shawls and accessories.
All materials are provided for the morning but please bring materials for the afternoon project (these can be purchases on the day if preferred).
Suitable for confident novice knitters and intermediate knitters.
