The Bleeker shawl has an interesting asymmetrical shape triangle/crescent shape and combines an easy lace pattern with garter stitch stripes and a saw tooth edge along the long edge of the shawl. The cast off edge has a scalloped lace edging. In the morning we'll practice the various techniques used in the Bleeker shawl including how to shape the shawl, neat colour changes for the stripes, a stretchy cast off, how to work the lace pattern and how to read a lace chart.
In the afternoon, you'll cast on for your own Bleeker shawl. You will need two skeins of Malabrigo Mechita (the sample uses colours 005 Anniversario and 412 Teal Feather) or alternative yarn (two 100g skeins of sock/4ply yarn with approx 385m per skein) and 4mm needles (80cm circular needle is recommended but straight needles can also be used). Pattern will be provided.
All materials for the morning will be supplied but please bring materials as above for the afternoon project (this can be purchased in the shop, using your discount, on the day of workshop if preferred).
